Why we can put it in writing
It’s not blind faith. It’s the material.
Cheap costume jewellery is brass with a thin layer of gold plating: when it wears off, the copper oxidises. Our jewellery is 316L stainless steel with 18K gold-tone PVD plating: no brass underneath, and a gold-tone finish applied in a vacuum that bonds far better.
And if a piece gives way anyway, we want to know. That’s why the guarantee is in writing.
FAQs
Your questions, answered.
Do I need a receipt?
No. Your order number is enough: you’ll find it in your confirmation email. Plus a photo of the problem.
Who pays to send it back?
We do. Returning the faulty piece is on us.
What if the style’s gone?
We’ll offer you a piece of equal value. If nothing takes your fancy, choose the +10% credit or a refund.
It was a gift. Does it still count?
Yes. All you need is the order number from whoever gave it to you: you can ask them, or email us their name and the date, and we’ll find it.
How is this different from a return?
A return is for “I don’t like it”: you have 30 days from delivery, and it’s free. The guarantee is for “the plating has given up”, even after months of wear.

Lifetime anti-tarnish guarantee
If the plating on your UpperEast jewellery tarnishes, flakes or peels with normal wear, you choose: a new piece, store credit worth the price you paid +10%, or a refund. It lasts for the lifetime of whoever bought it from us or, if it was a gift, whoever received it, on the terms below.
The promise, in plain English
UpperEast Jewels ([COMPANY NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS], phone [PHONE NUMBER], garanzia@uppereastjewels.com) guarantees that every UpperEast piece in 316L stainless steel with PVD plating in an 18K gold colour will keep its finish, without tarnishing, oxidising or flaking, for the lifetime of the person who bought it from us or, if it was a gift, of the person who received it. The same applies to the finish of our silver-tone pieces.
This guarantee doesn’t affect your legal rights as a consumer in any way: its benefits are in addition to your other rights and remedies under the law. In the UK, those rights come from the Consumer Rights Act 2015; in Australia, from the consumer guarantees of the Australian Consumer Law (see “Your legal rights” below).
In practice: if at any time (in 6 months, 5 years or 20 years) your jewellery tarnishes, discolours, flakes or peels, just tell us and we’ll reply within 5 working days with a real solution.
What the guarantee covers
- Tarnishing or oxidation of the 18K gold colour or silver-tone PVD finish
- Flaking or peeling of the plating
- Permanent discolouration that isn’t caused by chemicals from outside
- Marks on your skin (an oxidation reaction where the piece touches your skin)
- Manufacturing defects you can show us (clasps, soldered joints)
What it doesn’t cover
It doesn’t cover:
- Physical damage: knocks, crushing, bending, deep scratches, cuts
- Lost or misplaced jewellery
- Harsh products: neat bleach, acids, solvents
- Changes made by someone else (repairs, engraving, chain extensions)
- Wear from constant rubbing against hard surfaces or other jewellery that goes through the plating to the steel (for example, a ring worn against other rings every day for years)
- Jewellery bought elsewhere: if it didn’t come from uppereastjewels.com
How to make a claim
1 · Get in touch
Email garanzia@uppereastjewels.com with:
- Your order number (it’s in your order confirmation email)
- Photos of the jewellery that clearly show the problem
2 · We check
We reply within 5 working days with our assessment. If your claim is covered, we give you the three options straight away (see below).
3 · You choose
You choose one of these three:
- A free replacement with an identical piece, or one of the same value if the style is no longer available
- Store credit worth the original price + a 10% bonus, to spend on any UpperEast product (valid for 12 months)
- A full refund of the purchase price, to the payment method you used
Making a claim is completely free for you: we pay the postage for sending back the faulty piece.
Who it covers
The lifetime guarantee covers whoever bought the jewellery on uppereastjewels.com and whoever received it as a gift: all you need is the order number of the original purchase. It doesn’t cover jewellery resold by someone else.
If we stop trading
In the unlikely event that UpperEast Jewels stops trading, any remaining obligations under this guarantee would be handled in line with the law that applies when a business closes in the country where our company is registered. This never affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Your legal rights
On top of our guarantee, you always have your legal rights as a consumer. If you live in the UK: under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the jewellery must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If it isn’t, you can reject it for a full refund within 30 days of delivery; after that, you can ask for a repair or a replacement, and if that doesn’t work, a price reduction or a refund. You can have up to 6 years from delivery to bring a claim (5 years in Scotland). If you live in Australia: Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure. To use your legal rights, email info@uppereastjewels.com (or garanzia@uppereastjewels.com) with your order number or other proof of purchase (for example a bank statement) and a photo of the fault: it’s free for you, postage included, and you don’t have to go through the guarantee steps above.
Law and courts
If there’s a dispute about this guarantee, you can take it to the courts where you live: in the UK, the courts of England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, depending on where you live; in Australia, the courts or tribunals of your state or territory. This guarantee is governed by Italian law, but that never takes away the protection given to you by the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live.
Alternative dispute resolution
If we can’t sort out a dispute directly, we’ll tell you in writing the name and website of an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) body that could deal with it, and whether we agree to use it. In the UK, you can also get free advice from Citizens Advice (England and Wales), Advice Direct Scotland or Consumerline (Northern Ireland); in Australia, from the fair trading or consumer affairs office in your state or territory. Or you can go to court where you live.
